RLA CE Cimmittee

The RLA CE (Continuing Education) Committee is a group of your fellow NSLS librarians working to bring free programs of interest to the North Suburban Library community. We have funding through several grants and are planning on continuing to offer educational programs beginning again in the fall. These programs will be even more important now that NSLS has ceased offering their programs.

In order to keep the lines of communication amongst all of us strong, and in order to have a place to send new librarians who may be interested in networking, we have compiled an RLA Networking list of all the current NSLS groups and the contact person for the group.

We would like to invite you to come to a joint meeting on September 22 at 9:30 a.m. at Prospect Heights Library to brainstorm how to further enhance our communications. The meeting should only last about an hour. Please let us know if you will be able to attend this meeting. If you are unable, please ask one of your fellow group members to attend in your place.

Our agenda for the meeting will include:
--Introductions
-– go around the group
--How have groups adapted to the lack of NSLS support
-– meeting space, logistical support, L2, etc.
--Opportunities for cooperation
--Need/Desire for further meetings?

Finally if you haven't already, we would like to encourage you to sign up for one of the following options to keep updated on what the RLA CE Committee is doing.

Sign-up for our own RLA CE email list. By signing up, you will receive news about upcoming programs. We promise not to share your email with anyone else. Visit http://rlace.info and click on "Subscribe in a reader" or "Subscribe by email" on the upper right-hand sidebar to be notified of new blog posts.

Join us on our Facebook page and receive updates on upcoming programs.

And of course if you have suggestions for future programs, please contact us!

Digital Past Collections at IDA

E-News From the ISL reported:

"DIGITAL PAST JOINS ILLINOIS DIGITAL ARCHIVES
The Digital Past collections of digital images, previously maintained on the North Suburban Library System website, have been successfully migrated to the new Illinois Digital Archives (IDA) server.

The Digital Past collections are currently accessible to the public from the IDA home page through a link in the right column (under the "Collections" heading). At this point we are still migrating IDA collections and integrating them with the Digital Past collections in CONTENTdm version 5.3.1. We know that there are several collections that have problems. We will be working with the collection owners to resolve those problems over the next few months."
